The Route to the End of the World
The Route to the End of the World starts from Santiago de Compostela heading towards Cape Finisterre, offering the pilgrim the possibility to continue their journey and culminate the Camino de Santiago experience on the beaches at the western edge of the world. The route is completed in four stages, passing through forests towards the wild coast.
Our Horseback Route from Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre covers 95.40 kilometres in 5 stages.
The route connecting Santiago de Compostela with Finisterre offers an excellent opportunity to undertake a comfortable pilgrimage on horseback, along paths and trails of medium difficulty.
We will have the opportunity to visit the municipality of Muxía, a coastal town with its own history, where we will contemplate the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Boat (Virxe da Barca), the place where the Romería da Barca takes place in September. This mystical spot is not only a reward for pilgrims and the place where the Virgin appeared to encourage Saint James the Apostle, but it is also a rocky landscape full of stones with healing and magical qualities.
The final reward is unique: a seascape with no land in sight, in a mystical setting crowned by the Finisterre Lighthouse.

Horseback Camino de Santiago to Finisterre
On our arrival day, all participants will meet in Santiago de Compostela, where we will spend the first night. From the agreed meeting point, we will transfer to the facilities where we will have dinner, hold a short informative meeting, and rest before beginning our pilgrimage to Cape Finisterre.
The Camino to Finisterre is completed in four days, during which we will pass through places such as Negreira, Olveiroa or Muxía, before reaching the end of the world.
Santiago de Compostela – Negreira (Vilaserío)
We will visit the emblematic Praza do Obradoiro and begin our journey on the outskirts of the city of Santiago de Compostela, in Augapesada, passing through Carballo, Barca, Chancela, Negreira centre, Zas, Feás, Portocamiño and finally Vilaserío.
We will have the opportunity to visit with our horses the locality of Ponte Maceira, a place of great beauty and interest where its great Gothic bridge with three arches, dating from the 14th century, rests.
Negreira (Vilaserío) – Olveiroa
Considered one of the queen stages of the Fisterra Way, with great rural beauty, the route crosses river valleys and forested areas, featuring a demanding climb to Monte Aro, which offers wonderful panoramic views of the Fervenza reservoir before descending towards the Xallas River.
Olveiroa – Muxía (San Martiño de Ozón)
On this day we will move away from the Camino de Finisterre to take the opportunity to visit the coastal municipality of Muxía. During this stage we will pass through the localities of O Logoso, Hospital, Dumbría, Senande and finally San Martiño de Ozón.
Muxía (San Martiño de Ozón) – Lires
A route of great visual beauty, featuring cliffs, wild beaches and the scent of sea salt for most of the journey. During this stage we will pass through the localities of Vilela de Morquintián, Morquintián, Guisamonde, A Ponte Nova, Porcar and finally Lires.
Lires – Finisterre (Faro)
This is the final stage of this adventure, a short but spectacular stretch, ideal for enjoying it without haste and savouring the arrival at the End of the World. During this stage we will pass through the localities of Frixe and Cuño, Monte do Facho, Playa de Langosteira and the town of Finisterre.
