Horseback Camino from Valença do Minho
Our adventure begins in Valença do Minho (Fontoura). Over the next few days we will ride 113 km to reach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
We meet all participants at the accommodation and hold a welcome briefing to answer any questions about the pilgrimage.
Valença do Minho (Fontoura) – O Porriño
Second stage crossing northern Portugal. We ride to the international bridge over the River Miño, cross into Tui (declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1967) and finish the day in O Porriño.
O Porriño – Pontevedra
We leave O Porriño, pass through Redondela, ride along the Vigo estuary, cross Arcade and the historic Pontesampaio bridge, finishing in the beautiful city of Pontevedra.
Pontevedra – As Cernadas
We leave Pontevedra towards Caldas de Reis (famous thermal spa town), passing through Alba, San Amaro and Tivó. Overnight in As Cernadas.
As Cernadas – O Milladoiro
We ride towards Padrón, the legendary landing place of Saint James’ boat, passing through Santa Mariña de Carracedo, Valga, Cimadevilla and Pontecesures.
O Milladoiro – Santiago de Compostela
Early morning final ride into Santiago. We enter the Praza do Obradoiro on horseback and say goodbye in front of the magnificent Cathedral.
